Projects

Project One: Final Project Highschool at Antonius College Gouda

Introduction

provinciezuidholland

In our Final Project we have received a directive from the Province of South Holland. We needed to solve a traffic congestion issue. The traffic congestion ocurred in Westergouwe, a neighborhood in Gouda, the Netherlands.

Our job

Our task was focused on a traffic situation on the N207 nearby Westergouwe. The problem was the roundabout ’t Weegje. At that specific location, there is significant congestion during rushhours.

Workflow

We began with an orientation phase, researching the existing types of intersections. Then we brainstormed to determine which intersection type would best address our problem. After the brainstorm we started our design phase. In the design phase did we decide to use a 'turbo rotonde', the bicycle paths and where the roundabout needs to be build. After the design phase did we simulate our design in PTV Vissim. We did use PTV Vissim because you can simulate traffic to test if your idea also works in the realworld. You can see our simulation here: Roundabout simulation

Conclusion

The conclusion about our research is that a "turbo roundabout" would solve the traffic congestion in rushhours.

Project two: Own ADS-B receiver

At the moment I have on the roof of my house an ADS-B receiver to pick up signals from airplanes. On https://vlucht.binhvroeijenstijn.nl you can see the aircrafts I'm currently receiving.
